CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF THE AERIAL PARTS FROM GRINDELIA TARAPACANA PHIL
Abstract
The aerial parts of Grindelia tarapacana collected in Arequipa – Peru in April 2021 were subject to extraction by hydrodistillation (4h) to obtain the essential oil. The analysis of the composition was carried out by gas chromatography coupled to a mass spectrometer. 89 compounds were identified, which represent 79.01%. The major components identified were bornyl acetate 5.52%, α-iso-methyl ionone 6.49%, germacrene B 8.22%, E-nerolidol 5,4%, fokienol 5%, 10-epi-γ-eudesmol 6,16% y β-acorenol 4%. The essential oil was subject to an exploratory test to verify the antibacterial and antifungal effectiveness, with which it was shown to be highly effective in inhibiting the growth of the strains S. salivarius, E. faecalis and C. albicans at the concentration of 0,0625 %v/v and for S. mutans y S.sanguinis at the concentration of 0,125 %v/v.
